South Carolina bill would make it a crime to implement ObamaCare
Posted on: May 3, 2013, 7:21 am TP Admin writes: Published May 03, 2013 - FoxNews.com The Supreme Court may have ruled ObamaCare is constitutional, but implementing the controversial federal law would become a crime in South Carolina if a bill passed by the state House becomes law. The bill, approved Wednesday by a vote of 65-39, declares President Obama's signature legislation "null and void." Whereas the law that Obama pushed and Congress passed is known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, South Carolina's law would be known as the Freedom of Health Care Protection Act. Indiana Reconsiders Common Core
Posted on: May 3, 2013, 7:14 am TP Admin writes: Brittany Corona - May 2, 2013 - Heritage.com This past weekend, Indiana legislators approved a proposal to halt the implementation of Common Core until after preliminary hearings and an in-depth analysis are conducted. The bill now rests on Governor Mike Pence's (R) desk awaiting his signature. In February, the Indiana state senate voted 38--11 in favor of anti--Common Core legislation. And Indianans and local business owners have petitioned Pence to halt the Common Core implementation. In early April, Pence stated that Indiana may reconsider Common Core, saying that leaders in the state would "take a long, hard look" at the standards. Now, the move to put Indiana on a track of reversing the Common Core State Standards rests with Pence. Read more...
Solar Energy Embarrassingly Less Productive than Coal
Posted on: May 3, 2013, 7:05 am TP Admin writes: Rudy Takala - May 2, 2013 - Heritage.org A map recently released by the Solar Foundation highlights the industry's claim that 119,000 Americans are now employed in the solar industry. Its authors exclaim, "The United States solar industry employs more workers than coal mining." What the map doesn't touch on is whether solar energy is the most economical energy source. Solar advocates certainly think solar is economically beneficial. The average salary for a solar panel installer is "between $30,000 and $40,000 per year" according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The average salary for those in coal mining is $53,000 annually. Read more...

Huge Fuel Reserves Found in Dakotas
Posted on: May 2, 2013, 12:03 am TP Admin writes: By Barnini Chakraborty - Published May 01, 2013 - FoxNews.com WASHINGTON -- Energy companies are lining up for their shot to drill in the Dakotas and Montana after a new government report revealed that a massive geological formation stretching across the states contains twice the oil and three times the amount of natural gas than was originally believed. While the new estimate is drawing smaller companies to the game, the larger players like Schlumberger, Halliburton and Continental Resources are pushing forward with ambitious multi-year plans to stake their claim in the industry. Sad news for green lobby: Natural gas is even cleaner than we thought
Posted on: Apr 30, 2013, 8:12 am TP Admin writes: posted at 9:21 pm on April 29, 2013 by Erika Johnsen - HotAir.com Most unwelcome news for the one-track-minded, fossil-fuels-must-die green lobby -- and from their usually zealous allies at the EPA, no less -- but pretty sweet news for anyone who actually cares about the environment and isn't especially interested in scaremongering everybody into a big crunchy panic resulting in still more big government dictates that endorse economic slowdown as the solution to environmental problems. One of the organized environmental movement's biggest arguments against natural gas is that the release of methane, natural gas's main component, into the air during the production and delivery process is an even more dangerous and potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Therefore, these so-called environmentalists claim that on natural gas production's net evaluation, it is probably way worse for the planet and climate change than its advocates will admit. Panic: Democrats Fear Another Obamacare Backlash
Posted on: Apr 30, 2013, 8:06 am TP Admin writes: Guy Benson | Apr 29, 2013 - TownHall.com Within months of Democrats ramming through Obamacare without a single Republican vote, the American people responded, pummeling the president's party at the polls. Republicans gained 63 seats in the House, six United States Senators, six governorships, and nearly 700 seats in state legislatures nationwide. Conservatives had their temporary political revenge, we were told, but Democrats would get the last laugh because Obamacare was sure to become more popular once Republicans' scurrilous smears against the law were shown to be false. How's that working out? Read more... |
